So, you may or may not have noticed that I’ve been wearing the same pair of shoes for the last 2 weeks or so. Other than throwback pics, I’ve been wearing the same grey trainers out with every outfit since my 8th of October Instagram post. Why?
The reason is kind of funny, and rather simple. After we went to a sample sale and I returned with this pair of Bottega Veneta shoes (men’s shoes no less– super comfy), my boyfriend asked me why I have so many pairs of shoes. I could tell that he was sincerely curious, because he really didn’t understand. As in, most of my shoes aren’t worn for more than a few times in the whole year… hmm, well… I don’t know? He also asked my mom jokingly whilst we were on FaceTime later that night. My mom answered, “Be a woman in your next life and then you’ll get it.” Haha, she’s funny like that. But actually, I found his question rather interesting. I don’t really NEED all these shoes.
So, after giving it some thought, I wanted to challenge myself. What if, just what if… I could make every outfit work with just one pair of shoes? When I was a costume designer, the directors used to challenge me with projects all the time. This one would be personal, for me. The thought of doing this is a bit scary, but I guess I want to prove to myself that I can do it. I’m more fashion-obsessed than the “norm,” and definitely shop a bit more (I once spent 7.5 hours at the outlets and had to leave because they were closing). It might be fun to challenge myself this way! As I’m saying this, I already feel a little bit anxious haha…
Because I work from home in London, I don’t leave the house every day. Of course there are exceptions like going to workout; and on rainy days I’ll bring an extra pair of shoes to wear outdoors… etc. That’ll bring me to around 3-5 outfits a week with these shoes. Including my travels. Easy, right? The goal is to make all my outfits work around this one pair of shoes for as long as possible! Plus, it’s somehow as good for morale and my wallet!!
Do you think I can do it? My boyfriend is curious how long I could keep this up, and supports me even though he’s saying it’s not his intention to “limit” my shoes. If you know me, you’re probably laughing right now. I know, it’s sounds a bit crazy. But, I’ve been looking for a challenge like this and I’m quite excited.
Join me on Instagram/YouTube (vlogs coming soon) from time to time to see how this challenge is progressing, and I’ll update here as well.
Wish me luck, and here we go!!!
